So in this day and age where smoking is much less common, this could be returned to its traditional origins and used to hold implements for incense! \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eA very fine quality Tabako bon made from Burl Keyaki with copper burner box. Dating to the Meiji Period, late 19th, early 20th Century. \u003cbr\u003eWith two drawers and an open slot above for pipes. A pipe is included with the box. \u003cbr\u003eOn top there is the large copper burner box which would have been filled with ash, on top of which would have been placed a piece of charcoal from which to light the pipe. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThere is a round wooden tube container which is usually made of bamboo, in this case it is made of turned wood.
