A nice mid size Hibachi brazier cabinet with 2 drawers and extra compartments.

Hibachi like this can also be called tabako bon as often used for smoking, lighting pipes etc. They can also be used for incense and are large enough to also be used for heating a tea kettle.
The large empty copper box compartment would be filled with ash and a hot coal would be placed on top of the ash. To heat a kettle, a metal tripod is placed over the coal and the kettle would sit on top. With the right setup Sake bottles could also be warmed in a hibachi like this.

Handles on the side allow the hibachi to carried from room to room or for the host to bring into a room to entertain friends.

There are two nice sized drawers, now perfect for storing incense and other items.
There are also two compartments in the top section. One larger box compartment and one one covered bamboo tube. The cover in this case is particularly nice. A lovely little modelled leaf in copper with chased details.

Made of prized Keyaki elm wood with its strong and figural grain. The top, lids and trim are also nicely accented with a fine quality rosewood.

Found in Kyoto.

Measures 37cm wide x 24.5cm deep x 22.5cm tall.
