Vintage Shigeraki kiln stand or riser. These are used to separate ceramic pieces when they are being fired in a traditional Japanese wood fired kilns. Overtime they develop an amazing patina as different glazes drip on to them.
They are utilitarian pieces that were never intended to be displayed, pieces like this are the essence of Mingei or folk art in Japan.
They make perfect vases or plant pots, though the inside is not glazed so they don't hold water. We hide a small glass jar inside to hold water. Well include one that fits snuggly inside this one so you can use it straight away.
Shigaraki is a famous ceramic producing area near Kyoto in Japan, producing ceramics from local clay since ancient times.
Measures 13cm high and 9cm wide.

Shipping
We ship all orders within 3 business days via Australia Post. For extra large items, we may use a courier and will communicate with you about the options.
Standard Post takes 3-8 days to arrive to Australian destinations.
Express Post takes 1-2 days, unless there are delays due to peak postal times (ie Christmas).
You will be notified of any delays from our end (prior to shipping) as soon as possible.
Once shipped, you will receive a tracking number so you can check the AusPost website for arrival details.
