Great little Shrine called a Kamidana in the style of small shinto temple.
A Kamidana is a small altar or shrine used to hold images or figures of the Kami or deites in the Shinto Religion in Japan. This one holds a tiny ceramic figure of Daikokuten. The god of fortune and prosperity.
There is also a small folded paper ofuda which is a paper talisman often obtained at a temple and might be related to a specific purpose, like good luck, or often safety within the home.
Showa period. Mid 20th Century.
This one is very small and nicely proportioned.
Measures 11.5cm across x 11.5cm tall.
