A fine Japanese highly figured wood sewing box, Showa period circa 1920's.
Made with sugi or Cryptomeria wood with highly figured wood grain used on the draw fronts. Featuring metal handles and a Bakelite pull handle with a striking red lacquered front.
Features 4 drawers, one large at the bottom and three smaller with a further lift top flap on the top.
In overall good condition for age. All drawers sliding well. The now shiny metal drawer handles would have originally been painted black but this how now worn away.
Called a Hari Bako, sewing boxes like this were used to store sewing implements, threads, scissors, needles etc. Now they are perfect for jewelry, small treasures, Phones, keys etc.
You might notice a small rectangular hole on the side, this was for a bamboo ruler.
Measures approx 32.5cm wide, 19.5cm deep and 26cm tall.

Standard Post takes 3-8 days to arrive to Australian destinations.
Express Post takes 1-2 days, unless there are delays due to peak postal times (ie Christmas).
You will be notified of any delays from our end (prior to shipping) as soon as possible.
Once shipped, you will receive a tracking number so you can check the AusPost website for arrival details.
